Le Thanh Ton is Ho Chi Minh City's Little Tokyo. A handful of streets in District 1, Japanese signage, Japanese menus, and a row of karaoke bars that operate the way they do in Osaka rather than the way they do in Saigon. Pirates is one of the larger rooms on that strip.
There are two ways to spend the night here. The ground floor is a counter bar with ten seats, where a hostess sits beside you and the evening stays conversational. Upstairs there are five karaoke rooms, one styled as a Japanese washitsu with tatami, the others closer to a club interior, and they take anything from a pair of guests up to twenty six.
The venue states that more than twenty women are on its roster, which is what lets it staff both the counter and several rooms on the same night. That scale is the practical difference between this and the smaller snack bars a few doors away, where a full room can mean there is nobody free to sit with you.
Pirates publishes its karaoke pricing rather than leaving it to the bill. Sets run from 500,000 VND, with the larger room and longer packages reaching 1,000,000 and above, and the top end of the published range at 3,000,000 VND for the largest group bookings. The counter bar is charged separately and more cheaply. Prices are also quoted in dollars on the same page for visitors who prefer it.
It holds a 5.0 rating across 373 Google reviews, which is rare at that volume. The address is on Le Thanh Ton at the 15A and 57B block, in the middle of the Japanese quarter and a short walk from the Ben Thanh end of District 1. Reservations go through the venue directly and are worth making at the weekend, since the five rooms fill.
